A Message From Your President June 29, 2005
Dear PRACP members,

I would like to invite you to read and respond to the solicitation (below) from Dr. Russ Altman, Principal Investigator of the Pharmacogenetics & Pharmacogenomics Knowledgebase (PharmGKB).

This is a wonderful opportunity for our society to participate in an international effort to develop an important resource for clinical and basic research in pharmacogenetics/pharmacogenomics. Given the PRACP focus and expertise on inter-ethnic differences in drug response, our participation is likely to enhance the diversity of pharmacogenetics determinants represented in the data base. At the same time, it will provide an opportunity to increase the public awareness on the mission of the society and the research done by its members.

Please visit the web site and contact the PharmGKB team if you would like additional information.

Regards,

Anna Di Rienzo, PhD
Co-Chair, Academic and Public Affairs Committee

A Message From Your President @
PRACP investigators are invited to visit and contribute to the Pharmacogenetics & Pharmacogenomics Knowledgebase (PharmGKB, http://www.pharmgkb.org/). The PharmGKB stores data about genetic sequence variation and the associated variation in drug-related phenotypes, and provides methods for submission, browsing, and download. PharmGKB also curates a database of the pharmacogenomics literature, and provides information about drug-related pathways.

PharmGKB is now soliciting high impact data sets from investigators worldwide. The staff of PhD-level scientific curators can work with investigators to prepare submissions of genotype, phenotype or combined genotype-phenotype data sets. Data sets associated with new or recent publications, with large numbers of subjects and phenotypic measurements, and/or with samples that are available for further analysis are particularly targeted, but any data submission will be considered. Please visit http://www.pharmgkb.org/ or contact the staff at feedback@pharmgkb.org, if you have questions about the PharmGKB, how to use it, or how to submit to it.
